The Fire of Life

chapter seventeen
the capture

Aphrodite was caught off guard. She lost her concentration and would have fallen if Yavain wasn't holding her. "Why don't you drop me? I'd probably fall and die, isn't that what you want?" Aphrodite asked.
"You will not die unless the Ultimate is present," Yavain said. She was about to turn around when she noticed the golden ring Aphrodite was wearing. Then it turned into a dragon with purple scales and golden armor. "What?" Yavain said, surprised.
Yavain let go of Aphrodite and started falling as well. The dragon flew Aphrodite safely to the ground. A moment after Yavain landed and I heard a loud crack. Yavain got up, turned around and saw her board. It was split in many pieces.
She turned toward Aphrodite, and growled, "That. Is. My. Favorite. Board." I could tell her nails had started growing and her canines were sharpening. "I want to fight you, but not as a full wolf, yet."
What was she doing? This was when Aphrodite is supposed to attack then get back to Camp half-breed!
"Stay behind me," Aphrodite said to the dragon. What was she doing? She's no match for a wolf without her dragon! I thought. I looked at Yavain and I could automatically tell she was about to attack.
I looked straight at Yavain's eyes then made it so she only saw a purple haze. "What the heck?!" Yavain yelled.
I ran toward Aphrodite. I jumped onto a tree, and kicked off. I landed right in front of Aphrodite. "What are you doing?!" I yelled at her. "Without the dragon you can't beat Yavain!"
"J-Jordinly? What are you doing here?" Aphrodite asked.
"Saving you life, again! How can you think that you'd be any match for Yavain, your to easy a target for her!" I yelled at Aphrodite.
"And you can beat her? Jordinly, that jump, flip, thing you just did is the best thing I've ever seen you do," Aphrodite retorted.
"I've been training, just watch," I said as I turned around. Making sure Yavain still saw I purple haze I ran and kicked her. She fell on her butt. I pointed to Yavains eyes and she could see again, only she saw herself tied up with a very strong rope. So she didn't struggle.
Aphrodite was staring at my wide eyed. "Get on the dragon," I said to Aphrodite and Yavain. They complied. "Go to camp half-breed, I'll see you there."
In a flash I was zipping through the trees, in a way that only a Sixe (si-x) could do. In about five minutes I reached camp-half breed.
* * *
About half an hour later Aphrodite appeared, on her dragon, with Yavain. I quickly tied Yavain up, though she looked confused 'cause she saw rope around her already.
"How did you beat Yavain?" Aphrodite asked.
"I told you, I practiced. Besides, Yavain had absolutely no Sixe protection training," I replied evenly. Grabbing Yavain I started walking towards the infirmary.
"Where are we going?" Yavain asked, resisting.
"The infirmary, we need to make sure your not injured. And now, I'm going to have you do a test that you need to be healthy to do," I said pulling her after me.
Aphrodite stepped in front of me. "What did you mean when you said that Yavain had no Sixe protection training? What's a Sixe?" She asked demandingly.
I smiled. "That's for me to know and you to get me to tell," I replied, pushing past her. I could tell that she was really mad, but before she could say anything Kodi ran up to her.
"Aphrodite! Where have you been?! The whole camp has been looking for you, EVERYWHERE!" Kodi hugged her sister.
Remarkably Kellen soon followed Kodi, panting. "Don't. Run. Off. Like. That. Ever. Again," he panted.
Kodi turned around guiltily. "Sorry Kellen. I just heard Aphrodite and-"
"Wait," I paused. "The Fire of Life's sister is here, which means The Fire of Life is probably here, too."
Kodi didn't finish her sentence, and Aphrodite didn't say a thing. Kellen was the only one who spoke, "The Fire of Life? Really? Well, who is it?"
Surveying everyone's faces I came to a conclusion. "Aphrodite, we've been friends for, so many years. How could you not tell me? I thought you would have told me if you were so important to the world, so much that your the one thing that stands between the Ultimate and her goal," I said solemnly.
Without looking back I used my Sixe speed to take Yavain to the infirmary. I could Aphrodite Yelling at herself, she was mad. Then I saw Kodi grab Kellen, or the knight of questions, towards their cabin. Good, I thought. Two less people to deal with.
